Moonsong Part II

In softer beams than golden sun
In she offers comfort, safe and warm
For though to us she brings no heat
Her heart it pulses every beat
Her blood a liquid silver boon
A song of life of love of truth
A glistening mirror in the sky
Of souls beneath her watchful eye

Not watching us with pique or ire
But out of mirth and to admire
To help and heal and offer aid
As weary vagrants make their way
Upon the earth in sweet and toil
He laughing eyes a smirk a foil

Sweet song, symphony
Soft now, trembling

Author's Note:

This song has a different meter than I would have intended for a song to be set to music; more jovial and with a faster, more upbeat tempo than I intentioned. But sometimes the writing just pours out of you and you can't really say no! Perhaps in the future I will write a more contemplative song about my beloved Moon as I meant this one to be. Perhaps not. But I hope you can enjoy this one in the meantime!

Moonsong Part I

Cast in silver, spun of light
The heavens shed a brilliant light
Snow white, glistening,
moon-bright, listening

She wheels above the heavens high
Or skips in flowing water nigh
In running streams she dips her feet
In silver dells she skips and leaps
Uncaught by any mortal man
She zips across the heavens' span
In fragrant songs of skillful might
She weaves her dances through the night

In Maker's hand she throws her rays
A reverence to Him all her days
And still to many darkened soul
she brings the light of peace and hope
For through a bleak and hopeless night
She offers still her beams of light

Hope she whispers, hope she brings
Reflecting in the flowing streams
"look up beyond your sorrows here,
Look up to One who holds you dear
If in the hollows of His hand
I travel heavens vast and grand,
If in the deep you see my face,
Remember His unfading grace
For though my light may wax and wane,
His love for you remains unchanged"

Cast in silver, spun of night
She bares for all her radiant light
Soft touch, whispering
White beams, lingering

All creation hears her tale
And sings in shadow calm and gale
Simple chorus sweet and strong
An ache of bones, ache to belong
To love to live to feel His heart
In endless light, in storm and dark
